Hawthorne Cedar Knolls and the JCCH Sustainable Leadership and Garden Project.
Greenleaf Gardens worked with the students from the Jewish Community Center of Harrison to design and develop an organic food production operation and vocational program for the students of Hawthorne Cedar Knolls. The objectives were to provide leadership training and sustainability education to the JCCH children as well as to train and educate HCK students (vocational program) to develop their horticultural and organizational skills. Both the JCCH and HCK students developed a garden plan, started seeds, learned how to transplant, planted two fruit trees, and used tools to cultivate the garden.
