About

Our Community

Family. Fun. Community.

Greenleaf Gardens is a housing community located in SW Washington, DC.  The property is managed by the DC Housing Authority and with resident council leadership governed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to serve Section 9, more commonly known as public housing.  It has been designated an Opportunity Zone by HUD.  The property is in the process of undergoing redevelopment.  The redevelopment will impact the future of housing for current low-income residents.  The Greenleaf Gardens CDC, in partnership with the resident council is preparing residents for self-sufficiency through education, career training, community engagement and family development.

The Greenleaf Gardens housing community is not to be confused with surrounding housing developments or the nearby recreation center situated in the Southwest quadrant of  Washington, DC.

The property is comprised of 135 family units that with at least 2.5 children. This means that for every household, there are more people to serve than the number of homes on the property. Within each household there are varying demographics, including infants, children, youth, young adults, middle age adults and seniors. The community is diverse with African-Americans, Caucasian-Americans and Latino-American families all with varying degrees of social and economic opportunities for growth.
